Alan Walbridge Ladd Jr. was an American film industry executive and producer. He won a Best Picture Oscar for Braveheart and commissioned George Lucas to write Star Wars.
He was born on October 22, 1937, in Los Angeles, California, United States.
Alan Ladd Jr. was the son of actor Alan Ladd and his first wife Marjorie Jane Harrold.
He began in films as an agent in 1963.
In 1969, Ladd relocated to London to produce, making nine films, including The Walking Stick, A Severed Head, Villain, The Nightcomers, and Zee and Co.
He returned to the United States in 1973 to become Head of Creative Affairs at 20th Century Fox and was promoted from worldwide production head to president of Fox’s film division in August 1976.
However, in 1979, Ladd left his position and founded his production company, The Ladd Company, which produced hits movies such as Outland (1981), Night Shift (1982), and Police Academy (1984), Oscar-winners Chariots of Fire (1981), Blade Runner (1982), The Right Stuff (1983) and Gone Baby Gone (2007).
On Friday, September 28, 2007, Ladd received the 2,348th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

According to a family statement, Alan Ladd Jr. died peacefully, however, the cause of death was not disclosed.
His daughter Amanda Ladd-Jones took to Facebook to reveal that: “With the heaviest of hearts, we announce that on March 2, 2022, Alan Ladd, Jr. died peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
“Words cannot express how deeply he will be missed. His impact on films and filmmaking will live on in his absence,” she added.
Ladd Jr.’s brother David Ladd, also added in a Facebook post: “My brother, my friend, my hero, who always stood by my side. We will stand together again on the other side! I love you Laddie.”
Alan Ladd Jr. has been married twice. He married his first wife Patricia Ann in 1959, and the duo divorced in 983. He tied the knot with his second wife Cindra Ladd in 1985 and were together until his death.
Ladd Jr. had five children; Kelliann Ladd, Amanda Ladd, Chelsea Ladd, Kelly Ladd and Tracy Ladd.
He was 84 years old.
