AEW Collision was a successful show for fans, and they saw quite a match as Andrade El Idolo made his return to the ring. That match saw a tribute to Charlotte Flair, but it wasn’t received too well within WWE.
Charlotte Flair reacted to Andrade using her figure 8 finisher on AEW Collision. She loved the tribute, but WWE didn’t really care internally.
Ringside News reached out to inquire about the reaction internally to Andrade using Charlotte Flair’s finisher. A tenured member of the creative team informed us that the overall opinion is that nobody really cares what goes on in WWE.
“They’re the minor leagues. It’s typical they’d pay tribute to their significant others, since the significant others, being in the major leagues, are much bigger stars.”
Buddy Matthews also used Rhea Ripley’s submission hold during that match, which was a tribute to his own real-life girlfriend.
We will have to see what’s next for Andrade in AEW. He is off to a good start, and fans were certainly happy with his match against Buddy Matthews, even if it didn’t make much of an impression in WWE.
